NextGen EMR Software is an ONC-ATCB certified Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software solution designed to accommodate the needs of ambulatory practices of all sizes. The NextGen EMR system helps coordinate patients’ care and ensures compliance with quality healthcare reporting measures such as the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) requirements, population health management, and other clinical quality reporting initiatives.

The NextGen EMR software platform seamlessly integrates with Practice Management (PM) software and also provides Medical Billing Clearinghouse functionality. This allows practice administrators and billing managers to efficiently manage the entire front-office and back-office operations from appointment scheduling and resource management to complete medical billing operations management featuring electronic claims, credit card processing, patient ledgers, electronic patient statements, etc. The Practice Management system also lets office administrators and managers keep track of practice performance with extensive reporting functionality.
The NextGen EHR software integrated with Practice Management software can also be supplied along with the optional RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) services, with a dedicated team of medical billing experts available to help practices gain more visibility and performance throughout the billing operations with enhanced reporting to enable reduced A/R, higher collections, and minimum denials.
The NextGen system also supports telehealth services combined with a web-based patient portal app that allows clinicians to communicate with patients and vice versa. The Patient Portal allows patients to securely monitor and manage complete healthcare information, as well as request appointments, check balances, and request medical refills.

Pros: The clinical decision support tools are quite handy. I have found the charting to be fast once customized. Also integrates nicely with billing.
Cons: Initial training was confusing and not tailored to pediatrics.
Verdict: I would not call it perfect but it covers most of the needs of my practice. Took a bit of patience early on but I am pretty satisfied now.

Pros: It is just not intuitive. Everything feels buried under too many clicks and performance lags during busy hours.
Cons: Customer support is hit or miss. Reporting is overly complex.
Verdict: Honestly I have struggled with NextGen. We tried working with support to fix ongoing glitches but nothing seems to stick. Might be decent for a bigger group but not ideal for our solo practice.

Pros: NextGen has helped to streamline and simplify team management and collaboration. Its really improved the overall communication between our practice.
Cons: The cloud-based platform is dependent on internet connection. We have had a few problems with that, since our connection has dropped.
Verdict: The NextGen EHR software system offers a variety of tools and is a great pick for any mid size practice.

Pros: Lots of resources, comfortably priced and a really smooth running EHR application.
Cons: The technical support could be improved. I felt that there wasnt enough available to really help with our needs.
Verdict: The software itself is nice and smooth, but the support just needs improvement. Would be a welcome addition to the whole experience.
