TouchWorks EHR (Allscripts product), is a web-based program that is ONC-ATCB certified and Meaningful Use compliant. It helps practices in attaining the EHR incentives and prioritizes security above everything.
TouchWorks meets the necessary HIPAA requirements and is best suited to the needs of medium to large sized practices along with academic medical centers and multi-specialty clinics.
The software works as an ambulatory EHR with its Allscripts Wand feature. This gives physicians access to their patients’ medical records right from their mobile devices, allowing usage outside anywhere anytime.
The EHR also features e-prescription services, which allow physicians to perform drug to allergy checks and efficient drug interactions. TouchWorks EHR utilizes application programming interfaces (APIs), through which practices can integrate it with other software systems easily.
TouchWorks EHR secured the first place in 2014’s ranking for Multi-Specialty Practices and Independent Practice Associations. The software is currently being used by various healthcare organizations.
Allscripts knows that practices face financial burdens in their daily operations. To assist them in financial matters, the company offers a licensing solution which entails paying over a period of time instead of upfront payment. This means you can get your hands of this quality software suite even if your current budget is too low. The prices and packages of TouchWorks EHR are listed here.

Pros: An easy to use software for all kinds of specialties. The e-prescribing function is a real helpful feature. Updates take place regularly to improve the system.
Cons: The system updates during working hours and interferes with charting. Does not offer custom reporting.
Overall: The software is easy to use and has a lot to offer.
Pros: Has a generic & simple layout to accommodate most specialties. Very useful for large, multispecialty groups. Navigation is pretty smooth, patient information is accessible in no time.
Cons: An expensive EHR. They charge a monthly fee plus an annual maintenance fee as well. The software works best for large groups as far as affordability is concerned. The system shuts down at 9:00 pm, leaving us unable to check patients in. The updates take place during working hours.
Overall: It seems to be designed for large practices!
